Mission

Connecting through Art

DeAngelis Ceramics aspires to create joy and share a meaningful connection with the customer through the creation of high quality ceramics that are as beautiful as they are well made.

Artist Statement

I feel a deep sense of connection to the world and the people in it when I am creating. There is something I find so joyful about the feel of clay in my hands and the ability it gives me to express myself in the images I create. Intertwined in each piece I make is my exuberance for life and the overwhelming emotions that accompany me on my journey. Fascinated not only by the natural world but with humanity as well, I create work that often hints at and sometimes outright yells my love and curiosity regarding the interactions between the two.

By pulling from my memories and travels as a means to express these emotions, I use humor to explore and share my views of the world. With that humor, I use familiar fables, puns, metaphors, and vibrant color palates in the hopes of creating a narrative between the work and the viewer. I find these symbols and colors, which many know in a more primal way, to be a powerful tool for framing our relationships and interactions with the world. By revealing myself through these elements of nature and story, in both simple functional forms often adorned with sculptural elements and more elaborate and textually developed sculptures, it’s my desire to share my enthusiasm and passion for the world with the viewer.
