DeAngelis Ceramics

By Artist Meshell DeAngelis

Meshell DeAngelis is a ceramic artist who creates whimsical and nature inspired functional and sculptural forms in her studio in Weaverville, N.C.

As a young child, Meshell spent her early years in various parts of Asia, which is where she first discovered her love of the arts. She has been a resident of N.C. for the better part of the past thirty years. In 2002, Meshell joined the Army and after her service in Iraq was complete she returned to the mountains she calls home.

Attempting to reconnect with a life of art, Meshell received an Associate’s in Art and an Associate’s in Fine Art from AB-Tech Community College. In 2018, Meshell returned to college to pursue her passions in ceramics and received an Associate’s in Applied Science after completing Haywood Community College’s Professional Crafts Clay program.

By pulling from her memories and travels she uses vibrant colors, textures, fables, puns, and metaphors to create a narrative between the work and the viewer. Her work can be found on display at local exhibitions and at her online shop.
